About me

Hi, I’m Marelize Joubert

Wife. Photographer. Mother of two. Web developer. Math nerd. Cancer survivor. Lover of red wine, a good Netflix crime series, and bush escapes with my family when life needs a reset.

My path into the beauty world was not the traditional one.

Long before bridal mornings and hairspray kits, I built my career as a portrait photographer. Through years behind the camera, I learned something many artists never get taught:

Beautiful hair does not always photograph beautifully.

That insight changed everything.

I began styling hair for my portrait clients because I understood how shape, texture, volume and balance affect an image. What started in the studio grew into styling for make-up artists, weddings, special occasions and luxury brides across the region.

Today, after more than 10 years in bridal hair, I bring together two worlds most stylists don’t often combine:

The eye of a photographer

The hands of a hairstylist

So your final look is designed not only to feel beautiful in the mirror, but timeless in your photographs.

My Own Wedding Taught Me So Much

I was a DIY bride myself.

Like many women in the industry, I thought I could manage most of the planning because I had enough experience around weddings. And while some of the finer details did not unfold exactly as I imagined, I knew the vendors that mattered most.

My venue.
My photographer.
My hair and make-up.

Those were booked first.

And because timelines are one of my love languages, we were ready so efficiently that the wedding started 45 minutes early.

That experience gave me even deeper empathy for brides.

You carry excitement, nerves, expectations, family emotions and endless details. On the morning of your wedding, you deserve someone who knows how to carry some of that weight for you.

That is the energy I bring into every bridal suite.

My Team

No bride is one-size-fits-all, and neither is every wedding morning.

That is why I work with a trusted team of talented make-up artists and hairstylists — seasoned professionals as well as carefully selected younger artists we mentor and guide.

This allows us to cater for:

  • Intimate bridal mornings
  • Large bridal parties
  • Destination weddings
  • Safari lodge weddings
  • Luxury celebrations
  • Multi-generational family styling

Whether you book me personally or one of our team options, our standard remains the same:

Professionalism

Warmth

Beauty that lasts

Service that feels effortless

A Romantic at Heart

I am deeply privileged to have parents who have been married for over 40 years.

Their marriage has been one of the greatest examples of love, loyalty, friendship and commitment in my life. It quietly shaped how I view marriage — not only as a beautiful day, but as a sacred beginning.

When each bride sits in my chair, while I pin curls and perfect details, I often pray silently over her.

That the person she chooses today is the person God has lovingly guided into her life.

That their marriage would be filled with grace, laughter, loyalty and strength.

That what begins in beauty would continue in blessing.

Scripture reminds us that partnership is not accidental.

“It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make a helper fit for him.”
Genesis 2:18

“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.”
Proverbs 18:22

I believe love is one of life’s greatest gifts, and it is an honour to witness the beginning of so many beautiful stories.

New Perspective

I know what it feels like to walk through hard seasons. Cancer taught me that beauty runs much deeper than appearance.

Beauty is confidence.
Beauty is resilience.
Beauty is joy returning.
Beauty is a woman recognising herself again.

That perspective changed how I serve women.

This is not just hair and make-up.

It is helping women feel seen, honoured and radiant in moments that matter.
